Monteiro Lobato Community Lot, São José do Rio Pardo, São Paulo
Santiago is our annual farm coffee from Brazil, which we currently source as a community lot called Monteiro Lobato, mainly from the Fazenda Pinheiro, Matao and Sao Domingos farms. The coffee farms are located in the São José do Rio Pardo region (near Cerrado Mineiro) in the state of São Paulo, which is renowned for coffee cultivation. This community blend stands for a high level of commitment to consistent flavour and careful craftsmanship. The coffee cherries are carefully selected according to various factors, including specific flavour profiles, bean density and colour matching for consistent quality. Every cup of Monteiro Lobato represents a symphony of flavours and harmony of environmental sustainability and community welfare in the region. For every bag of green coffee sold, a tree is planted at Fazenda Pinheiro.
Mundayo Washing Station in Oromia, West Arsi
This wonderful coffee is grown by smallholder farmers at an altitude of between 1945 and 2100 metres, who then bring their harvest to the Mundayo Washing Station in West Arsi in southern Ethiopia for further processing. The Mundayo Washing Station is located in the Oromia region (in the West Arsi zone) and supports around 750 small local farmers. The farmers bring their coffee cherries to the washing station, where they are carefully sorted to remove damaged or unripe cherries. It is a naturally processed coffee that is dried in the sun on African beds for three weeks. The farmers in this region generally do not use fertilisers or pesticides in coffee production as they do not have access to them.

Winter Blend
This year, we are once again taking you on a journey through wintery worlds of flavour. The intense sweetness of baked apple and marshmallow is joined by savoury spices: Pure winter magic awaits you and your palate in this year's Winter Blend. This year's coffee comes from two producers (from Brazil and Ethiopia). Super silky, sweet and with little acidity – this espresso will spoil you and your loved ones during the cold season.

This year's Winter Blend consists of two very special coffees. Two Naturals from the traditional coffee-growing countries of Brazil and Ethiopia provide a special flavour, from spicy baked apple to complex marshmallow notes.
Flavours of Winter
This year, our winter coffee series consists of a unique signature blend (Winter Blend), which was roasted exclusively for espresso by our head roaster Ivo Weller to create winter flavours such as baked apple, spices, nut, chocolate and marshmallow in the coffees. The Flavours of Winter series has been enriching our range for four years now. This year, it includes a very special coffee that is particularly suitable for preparing espresso and espresso-based milk drinks.
Christmas as inspiration

With our winter series, we want to show you new flavors in coffee and at the same time ignite a little Christmas spark. We’ll help you with the preparation – so that it works just like our baristas in our cafés in Berlin. That’s why our Head Barista Valeria Kutuzova has created a brew guide for our winter coffee.

“In particular, we want people to enjoy our winter coffees, learn more about their respective preparation and spend a cozy time with them. A moment of pure joy with a home-brewed coffee by candlelight, for example,” says Valeriia, describing the idea behind the Flavors of Winter coffee.

Sustainable cultivation and quality awareness
As with wine, the origin, cultivation and careful harvesting of coffee form the basis for a specialty coffee. We only use ripe and hand-picked 100% Arabica coffee beans for our coffees, as the laborious harvesting by hand is an essential quality criterion. Our highland coffees are natural products and are grown in shady forest gardens in an environmentally friendly way. This preserves the biodiversity of the growing region. The coffee cherries can ripen slowly at cool altitudes with nutritious and fertile soil conditions. Under these optimal climatic conditions near the equator, the coffee plants have more time to develop their characteristic and fruity aromas.
Freshly roasted by hand
All Röststätte coffees are gently roasted by hand in Berlin so that the natural aromas can fully develop without any unwanted acidity. To achieve a pronounced body and a versatile taste profile in the cup, we want to emphasize and optimally process the special features of the respective variety, farm and origin of the coffee with our roasting. The aim is therefore to exploit the full potential of the green coffee through our roasting method in order to emphasize the valuable work of the producers in the countries where the coffee is grown. These are our quality principles – from source to the final cup.
