We roast two varieties for this year's Winter Espresso: 50% comes from Brazil (Fazenda Pinheiro) and 50% comes from Ethiopia (Mundayo Washing Station). This year's Winter Blend consists of two very special coffees. Two Naturals from the traditional growing countries provide a special flavour, from spicy baked apple to complex marshmallow notes. Pure winter magic awaits you and your palate in this year's Winter Blend.

WINTER ESPRESSO BOX

We have created our Winter Espresso Box for this special time of year. This box contains two winter espresso beans and a pair of Röststätte socks – perfect for adding a little winter magic to your coffee corner. Spoil yourself and your loved ones with the finest espresso and creamy-sweet milk drinks. Winter is a magical time of year that transforms the world into a little fairy tale with its quiet beauty and mysterious atmosphere. Fairy lights adorn windows and streets, while the starry sky shines above us. Inspired by hygge and winter magic, we have created our winter coffee gift boxes, which contain coffees with Christmas flavours.

Our winter espresso gift box contains our two winter espresso roasts:

  • 250g Winter Espresso Blend with notes of baked apple, marshmallow and chocolate
  • 250g Novum Espresso Blend with berry sweetness and dark chocolate
  • 1 pair of Röststätte socks with portafilter print – in the size of your choice
Flavours of Winter
This year, our winter coffee series consists of a unique signature blend (Winter Blend) roasted by our Head Roaster Ivo Weller for Espresso to create wintery flavours such as baked apple, spices, nut, chocolate and marshmallow in the coffees. The Flavours of Winter series has been enriching our range for four years now. This year, it includes a very special coffee that is particularly suitable for preparing espresso and espresso-based milk drinks.
Christmas as inspiration

With our winter series, we want to show you new flavours in coffee and ignite a little Christmas spark at the same time. We’ll help you with the preparation – so that it works just like our baristas in our cafés in Berlin. That’s why our Head Barista Valeria Kutuzova has created a brew guide for our winter coffee.

‘In particular, we want people to enjoy our winter coffees, learn more about their preparation and spend a cosy time with them. A moment of pure joy with a home-made espresso, cappuccino or flat white by candlelight, for example,’ says Valeria, describing the idea behind the Flavours of Winter coffee.

Sustainable cultivation and quality awareness
As with wine, the origin, cultivation and careful harvesting of coffee form the basis for a speciality coffee. We only use ripe and hand-picked 100% Arabica coffee beans for our coffees, as the painstaking manual harvest is an essential quality criterion. Our highland coffees are natural products and are grown in shady forest gardens in an environmentally friendly way. This preserves the biodiversity of the growing region. The coffee cherries can ripen slowly at cool altitudes with nourishing and fertile soil conditions. Under these optimal climatic conditions near the equator, the coffee plants have more time to develop their characteristic and fruity flavours.  
Freshly roasted by hand
All Röststätte coffees are gently roasted by hand in Berlin so that the natural flavours can fully develop without any unwanted acidity. For a distinctive body and a versatile flavour profile in the cup, we want to emphasise and optimally process the special features of the respective variety, farm and origin of the coffee with our roasting. The aim is therefore to exploit the full potential of the green coffee through our roasting method in order to emphasise the valuable work of the producers in the countries where the coffee is grown. These are our quality principles – from source to the final cup.
