Brew Guide: How to brew coffee with the Aeropress

The AeroPress is probably the most multi-talented of all manual brewing methods. In the following Brew Guide, we'll show you how to make delicious coffee with your AeroPress every time. It's easy, in seven steps.
It all started in 2004, when inventor and engineer Alan Adler wanted to create a coffee brewing method that would quickly brew a delicious cup of coffee. He invented the AeroPress. 16 years later, it is one of the most popular and exciting brewing methods on the coffee market. Not only can you find the AeroPress in every good coffee shop, there are now even national championships and world championships organized every year.

Our baristi are big fans of the AeroPress, because this brewing method is particularly exciting to experiment with. It produces a very nice sweetness in the cup and gives the coffee a full body. We have created for you an optimal brewing recipe that will allow you to brew a delicious cup quickly and easily.

To plunge or not to plunge - that is the big question.

Whether inverted or normal – whether fast or long extraction – with the AeroPress you have countless possibilities to brew your coffee.

What equipment you need

● AeroPress / AeroPress Go
● AeroPress filter
● Kettle
● Coffee grinder
● Scale
● Timer
● Delicious filter coffee

Key data

● 17g ground coffee
● 220ml filtered water - 89 - 95°C
● Grinding degree: medium/coarse
● Extraction time 1:30

Easy brew in 7 steps

Step 1

Boil the brewing water to a temperature of 94°C and place the plunger of the AeroPress directly into the cylinder and up to the "4" mark. This leaves enough room for 220 ml of liquid. Make sure that the plunger is firmly seated and tightly sealed.

Step 2

Pre-grind your coffee fresh before brewing. Then pour the hot filtered water into the AeroPress to preheat the material.

Step 3

Place the paper filter in the strainer of your AeroPress. Rinse your filter with hot water beforehand to remove the bland paper taste.

Step 4

Pour the water that is no longer needed out of the flask and place it with the cylinder on the scale. Now add the ground coffee into the AeroPress and check the temperature of the water, which should now be 93°C. A kettle with thermometer (e.g. Fellow Stagg) is helpful.

Step 5

Start the timer, add 50 ml of water and gently stir the coffee-water mixture. In the next step, add the remaining 170 ml of water and stir for 30 seconds. Now screw the strainer with the filter onto the AeroPress.

Step 6

Now take a server or your favorite cup and hold it upside down on the filter. After a total of 1:15, turn the jug and AeroPress upside down in one fell swoop.

Step 7

Now all you have to do is stay cool and press down the plunger of the AeroPress evenly within 15 seconds. After 1:30, the entire brewing process should be over.
Happy Brewing!
